The artifact collection of Kultobe has three books. According to the pre-assessment of experts they are explanations to the Quran. The meanings interpretation of the Quran was one of the most important goals through the history of Islam and over the time became one of the most important genres of the Arabic-speaking Muslim culture - tafsir (or tapsir). The term “tafsir” has Arabic origin and means “to explain, tell, comment and interpret”.
The aim of the tafsirs is to open and explain the meaning of the Quran verses in the context of the academic tradition of Islam in a simple and accessible way.
The classical tafsirs were very popular and respected among the Muslims of Central Asia and Kazakhstan. The tafsirs of the East thinkers were widespread: MukhammadAbdo, Rashid Rida, SayyidKutba, Abdurrakhman as-Saadi, al-Maududi, MukhammadTabatabai, al-Kasimi, al-Lusi and others. The books of Kultobe belong to this genre. These books were made in lithographic technique and by paleographic features close to the Egyptian and Turkish editions of the second half of the XIX century. At the moment, it is impossible to identify the authors of Kultobe books and its bad preservation quality the predetermined restoration work of the famous Kazakhstan restorer KrymAltynbekov.
