Main goals

- systematically study (excavations, conservation, restoration, partial digital reconstruction, museumification) the archaeological site “Kultobe Settlement” with highlighting its key historical phases of occurrence, prosperity, decline, etc.;

- to carry out a cultural and anthropological study of the ancient settlement of Kultobe, including its role in the formation of Turkestan as an important spiritual center of the Turkic world at different time stages;

- to determine and justify the significance of Kultobe as part of the Museum-Reserve Azret-Sultan and develop specific recommendations for image branding of the ancient settlement and the entire complex as a whole;

- to transform the preserved, restored and selectively digitally reconstructed a modern archaeological park Kultobe settlement into that meets all domestic and international requirements and the norms of preservation of historical and cultural heritage;

- to replenish the existing documentary and archival historical and archaeological scientific base and form a new (cultural and anthropological) for further systematic study of the Kultobe phenomenon in order to verify and clarify preliminary scientific hypotheses, as well as develop new ones;

- to examine the narrative ethnographic and iconographic materials associated with the Kultobe settlement, to establish the real role of various social institutions in shaping the worldview and typical behavior patterns of the population of the Turkestan agglomeration at different time stages;

- to study a set of historical documents and different-time folklore texts reflecting social psychology, traditional value orientations and mythology of nomads, their aesthetic preferences, relic beliefs and cults, their connection and continuity;

- to systematize the information collected and the mutual comparison of cultural traditions of veneration of sacred places (natural and man-made) of different eras with each other, to establish system-forming features of similarities and differences between them;

- to prepare and publish a number of scientific and popular science publications on various aspects of the historical, archaeological and cultural values of the ancient Kultobe settlement;

- to collect empirical data through the use of methods of archeology, religious studies, archaeography, source studies and geography, allowing to analyze each selected object from the point of view of its historical, cultural and religious significance and, in this regard, the prospects for the further development of the tourism industry around this object.
